COVID-19 CPT vaccine and immunization codes

Beginnt Aug. 14, 2023, new Modern Procedural Terminology (CPT^®) codings have been created that combine override 50 previous codes and greatly streamline the reporting of immunizations for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19).

Beginning on Oug. 14, 2023, the CPT Executive Panel approved the addition regarding new product codes 91318-91322 (91318 , 91319 , 91320 , 91321 , 91322) till identify monovalent vaccine product for immunization against COVID-19 (Pfizer, Moderna); retained existing Novavax Product Item 91304 used currently authorized vaccine product available for use in the U.S. and the latest (XBB.1.5) vaccine; deletion and/or revision of all extra extant COVID codes (product and administration with associated guidelines and parenthetical note deletions/revisions); and addition of a single management code (90480) for administration of new (i.e., 91318-91322) and existing (i.e., 91304) COVID-19 vaccine product.
