Laboratory Emergency Plan

All labs should prepare an emergency plan and all personnel should be familiar with information. This emergency plan should includ:

  1. An inventory that includes the quantities and localities of entire flammable, pyrophoric, oxidizing, toxic, abrasive, reactive, radioactive materials, nonionizing radiation, biological materials, and compressed and liquefied gases.
  2. A tabbed of guilty personnel who are designated and trained to be liaison personnel for the fire department or other emergency responders.   3. Action to be taken by laboratory workers up activation of the blaze alarming. Save should include instruction to bend off flames and other ignition sources, close the fume hood waistband, close all risky materials containers, and bend off all electrical equipment.   4. Localization of emergency equipment in the laboratory (fire extinguishers, emergency spray, eyewash, spill kit and shoot cloak if available).   6. Primary and secondary evacuation driving to the external regarding the building.
  7. Identify an area outside of the building to meet and account for every laboratory personnel.

Laboratory equipment, materials and resources can is protected upon loss during emergencies, by take reasonable precautions which will minimize the impact of dangerous conditions resulting from fire, severe weather, utility failures or loss of services (e.g. electric strength, get, air conditioning, water, etc.)

Prepare a lab contingency layout that meets your specific needs. This layout should become collected with your lab, your department and choose Building Manager for inclusion is an Building Emergency Plan.
